Crane Aerospace & Electronics has announced Antonio (Tony) Velotta as Elyria Site Leader. In this role, Velotta will be a key business partner to John J. Higgs, Vice President of Fluid Management Solutions for Crane Aerospace & Electronics, to further develop the vision for the Fluid Management team and grow the business through operational excellence and customer focus. Velotta will be responsible for all operations and manufacturing activities at the Elyria site.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics hosted a meeting and facility tour with Rep. Jim Jordan and members of his staff at Crane’s Elyria, Ohio site on February 21. The Elyria site was re-districted into Ohio’s 4th congressional district beginning in January 2013. Jordan was interested in learning more about Crane’s involvement in the community, opportunities and needs in the aerospace and defense industry, as well as our views on sequestration, ITAR regulations and skilled labor availability.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been chosen to provide seat actuation for new executive seats made by Iacobucci HF Electronics S.p.A, an Italian interiors specialist. Crane’s Mechloks – together with Crane’s latest ‘AC’ series of mechanical control cables – will enable motion control of the executive seats, which were designed in concert with DesignworksUSA to provide a “premium flying experience balancing comfort, style and superior quality.”

Crane’s Lyon, France employees are proud to announce that their site recently earned the AS 9100 Revision C (AS 9100C) certification for Aerospace Quality Management System. The latest Quality Management System, Revision C, is a designation offered only to organizations that design, develop and produce aviation, space and defense products while demonstrating strict adherence to quality, reliability and safety standards.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by Chengdu CAIC Electronics Co., Ltd (CAIC) to supply proximity sensors and electronics interface modules for a landing gear indication system upgrade program on the MA60 turboprop aircraft of AVIC Xi’an Aircraft Industry (group) Company Ltd. (AVIC XAC).

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Parts Manufacturing Authority (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its SmartStem® Wireless Tire Pressure System to be fitted on the Bombardier Learjet 40 and 45 aircrafts.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by Snecma to provide the Fuel Flow Transmitters for the Snecma Silvercrest engine program. Crane’s fuel flow transmitters measure fuel flow rate in mass, not volume, for exceptionally high accuracy. The Snecma Silvercrest engine is being developed for large and long-range business jets. Entry into service is planned for 2014
January 9th, 2013 Shawn Crane Aerospace & Electronics announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Crane’s SmartStem® Wireless Tire Pressure System for Learjet 40 and 45 aircraft. The certification for the Learjet 40/45 system adds to the growing list of SmartStem Tire Pressure Sensors already certified for use on a variety of other business jets including Cessna Citation Sovereign, Citation X, Dassault Falcon 50, and Bombardier Learjet 60.
